After serving in the US Army's 9th Division in Viet Nam, Joe attended Brooklyn Law School while working as NY Regional Manager for Kerr Manufacturing and Lee Pharmaceuticals, respectively. Joe was appointed as Assistant District Attorney in New York City shortly after being admitted to the bar in 1974, finishing that part of his career in 1978 as Acting Deputy Chief of Narcotics.

He has received media attention in several cases and has been quoted, as an expert, in the Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Business Journal. | His practice in Colorado emphasizes all aspects of criminal law; Drug and alcohol offenses, sexual abuse, theft and embezzlement, homicide, assault and domestic violence. Domestic Violence practice has become a large part of his practice due to the firm's co-specialty in Family Law. Joe has been appointed as Chairman of the Criminal/Domestic Violence Committee of the Family Law Section of the Denver Bar Association, 2002-2003. He was invited to be a keynote speaker at the colorado Criminal Bar Association's Domestic Violence Seminar. He gained some media coverage in 1995-96 with the "Stalker Case." He has appeared on television and radio in both New York and Colorado. As an experienced litigator he recognizes that thorough preparation of the facts, law, witnesses and experts is the threshold to success in court. This attention to detail may also lead to negotiated settlements that benefit the client and children. He believes in utilizing professionals from other fields, such as; private investigators, forensic scientists, polygraph experts, and former police experts on police procedure. Joe is admitted to practice in Colorado and New York. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Arapahoe County Bar Association and the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar.
